Xtreme Teens and Preteens Try to Solve the Mystery at Snow Hill Manor
Whodunit? That’s what teens and preteens were trying to determine at the Murder Mystery Dinner at Snow Hill Manor on Saturday, Feb 9, put on by the Bowie Community Theater. The soon-to-be investigators ate a dinner of chicken, potatoes, salad and lemonade at the fictitious “Golden Gobbler” restaurant (the old manor, built in the early 1800s served the purpose), which was the site of an oven explosion that left chef Ramsey Gordon killed and his secret, award-winning turkey recipe missing! There were six suspects in the case that investigators could question and one was lying completely! The teens and preteens looked at the Golden Gobbler’s menu as well as a newspaper, homicide reports and various clues. The investigators did not take their job lightly, really questioning the motives and means of the suspects to carry out such a heinous crime! Working together as a team, Kayla Myers, 10, and Daeshawn Barksdale, 11, seemed to have a hunch who the murderer was. Myers thought it was Gordon’s competitor, Halliday Feast. “When he went up the stairs I became suspicious,” she said. Baskdale agreed: “He was into it.” Investigators who guessed correctly had the chance to win a prize and all hungry detectives got dessert before leaving. It was a fun night of investigating, all in the name of good food and justice!
