Teens, are you the next Kelly Clarkson, Miguel, Rihanna or Usher? Sign up today to audition for the 2013 Xtreme Teens Rising Stars Vocal Showcase! You could be named one of the top singers in Prince George’s County and win a cash prize. The event is open to preteens ages 10-13 and teens ages 14-17 who have auditioned and made the cut! The final competition will be held on May 11 at the University of Maryland Kay Theater, at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, from 7-10 p.m. Soloists and musical groups are welcome to audition for the top prizes, ranging from $250 to $1,000! Auditions are beginning now, at various community centers at various dates, on Fridays and Saturdays. To audition, you must be a resident of Prince George’s County and prepare two songs – one slow and one fast – to display your talent and vocal range. Make sure you have the music with you at the audition. If you pass the audition, judges will select which of those two songs you will perform at the competition. Schedule an audition at www.pgparks.com/TVS.htm and see where the auditions are being held here: http://www.pgxtremeteens.com/Hot_Happenings/Signature_Events/Teen_Vocal_Showcase.htm. There is always tons of Xtreme Teen talent each year and now it’s your turn to show your skills! Photo: Ivonne Olguin, 2012.
