Xtreme Teen and Preteen Girls Get Ready for the Holidays
What better way to spend a Friday night in December than decorating cookies, making Christmas ornaments and hanging out with your friends? That’s exactly what area girls in the G.E.A.R. program did and more at the Kentland Community Center Friday. Girls from different area community centers traveled to Kentland to participate in the fun night that was just for girls! The girls started off the night with dinner and candy canes followed by dancing to “Wobble,” and the “Cupid Shuffle.” Later on, they decorated Christmas cookies with colored icing and sprinkles and made homemade Christmas ornaments. The teens and preteens were given Styrofoam balls, which they stuck ribbon, pins and sequins on. Colbi Dugar, 11, is excited to get presents for Christmas but, as for her ornaments, she wants to give them as gifts. “I want to give them to the homeless on the streets,” she said. Nijah Murrell, 14, also wants to give her ornaments to her mom and dad. “You gotta give to receive,” she said. Overall, the night was a fun and relaxing time to spend with friends and make fun gifts and yummy cookies for the holiday season. “I love Christmas!” Murrell said.
