Where can Prince George’s County Xtreme Teens and Preteens, play tennis, hike, ride a carousel, play miniature golf and explore nature all in one spot? Head out to Watkins Regional Park this fall to enjoy all these and more, right in our backyard! In Upper Marlboro, the park has campgrounds, where families can sleep under the stars and enjoy the crisp fall air. With many hiking/running trails, Xtreme Teens and Preteens and their families can enjoy outdoors or visit the Watkins Nature Center to learn about the park’s animal inhabitants. The Old Maryland Farm, also in the park, offers hayrides and petting areas. Animal lovers can even host their birthday party there! In the summer, the park’s Chesapeake Carousel, which used to operate at Chesapeake Beach until 1972, is a fun step back in time to old-school amusement parks. Looking for something more seasonal? In the winter, the park hosts the annual Festival of Lights, open from 5 to 9:30 nightly, displaying bright holiday lights making for a fun car ride. This winter, starting November 23, enjoy a family-friendly holiday drive through the park! Head to Wakins Regional Park for a jam-packed day of outdoor adventures!
