Forest Fright Brings Screams to Prince George’s County
It was a dark, dark night. Back in the woods of Watkins Regional Park, down a long, winding street, one could hear screams coming from the trees…and Michael Jackson? The annual Forest Fright event, held Friday, October 27, was a huge success for Xtreme Teens and Preteens looking for a scary good time! Starting at 7:30, teens and preteens (and some brave parents) came to the park to enjoy food, a DJ, games and, most popular, the haunted forest. Teens were blindfolded and stuck their hands in creepy, slimy substances, trying to guess what they were. Waiting in line for the haunted forest, Kaddia Tounkara, 11, and Kayla Fletcher, 12, said they didn’t get scared easily. Tounkara came out to Forest Fright because she “thought it would be interesting.” She was nervous-excited to head into the haunted forest. Fletcher, however, was a pro, as she had attended the event last year. She expected the forest to be even scarier this year though! Later on in the night, the event turned into a dance party, with teens and preteens dancing amongst the leaves. It’s not every day you can see a ladybug and a doctor doing the cupid shuffle! Overall, Forest Fright was a fun night of screams and dancing, but watch out for that man with a chainsaw!
