Exciting Things on the Agenda for Xtreme Teens!
In a fun-filled evening, all Xtreme Teen Coordinators gathered at the College Park Aviation Museum on Wednesday, October 3, for their first Xtreme Teen meeting for the year! Coordinators made screen print t-shirts, perused the museum and enjoyed refreshments before getting down to business, which still involved lots of cool things. The meeting began with the introduction of the Youth Advisory Council, teens who were selected (after an application process and interviews) to represent their community at other teen planning meetings. Teen advisors introduced themselves and what made them want to join the council. Many wanted to see change in their communities and be leaders while others desired to become more involved and make the community more fun for everybody! Elizabeth Morafa, from the Lake Arbor Community Center, says, “I am looking forward to pitching ideas I know teens are excited to have that they don’t already have.” The teens then repeated an oath to be sworn in, promising to “honorably serve the citizens of this county.” Also at the meeting, area leaders spoke about past events that were very successful as well as upcoming programs and events. Look out for the Teen Cotillion, Open Houses, GEAR programs, Forest Fright, a camping trip and much, much more! The Xtreme Teens also has a new Instagram account, which many of the teens took advantage of at the past Rock the Boat party. Teens can add @PGXtremeTeens on Instagram as well as Twitter and on Facebook. Taking pictures at Xtreme Teens events? Use hashtags such as #PGXtremeTeens or #XtremeTeens and you could have your photos shared to others! Overall, the meeting proves that there are so many awesome things happening behind the scenes at Xtreme Teens. Check back for more posts as these new programs and events occur!
