The time is fast approaching: apply for the 2013 Teen Cotillion to experience one of the county’s best (and most fun) programs for leadership and development! This program, which is 16 weeks running from January to May, is designed to make Prince George’s Xtreme Teens the best they can be! Boys, called “beaus,” and girls, called “debs,” will experience everything from etiquette lessons to workshops in career development, team building activities and tips for improving social skills. Excited to be a part of this program? Applicants must complete the online application and submit essays on leadership and pursuing their dreams. Teens will be selected amongst the applicants based on these factors. Only twenty female and twenty male participants will be selected, so plan early! Prospective beaus and debs must submit their applications by Friday, November 30 for consideration and must be between 14 and 17 years old. Cotillion workshops end with a final “coming out” party that is the highlight of the season, with beaus and debs dressed in their finest, displaying all they have learned in the course of the 16 weeks. This truly rewarding experience is one not to miss! For more information, call 301-446-3400 and apply here: http://www.mncppcapps.org/pgparks/xtreme_teens/cotillion/cotillion_registration.asp. On November 7, attend an interest meeting as well. Check back for more 2013 Teen Cotillion posts as the program kicks off in the start of the year! Photo Cred: The 2012 Teen Cotillion by Kent D.
