Are you a teen looking towards the future? Are you ready to step into the world of employment but need some help picking out that interview outfit, learning how to become a leader or setting positive goals? If so, sign up for the upcoming Building Blocks programs, designed to send our Prince George’s Xtreme Teens out into the working world confident, qualified and fully prepared to take it on headfirst! The program, made up of four workshops, begins in October and continues into December on Wednesday nights. The first block, held on October 3 and November 7, is titled “The Leadership Academy” and focuses on being all that you can be! Helping you to hone in on your skills as a leader as well as how to help become positive role models in the community, the block also helps you learn how to deal with conflicts in a positive, healthy way. Block number two, “Take it Personally,” is held on October 10 and November 14. It helps you to learn about positive goal setting, finding your inner strengths and to use your time wisely. “Take this session personally,” said the Xtreme Teens website! The third block, “My Space: The Real Thing” focuses on working to help the community through student service learning and volunteering and is held on October 17 and November 28. “Getting Ready,” held on October 24 and December 5, can help you do just that – get ready to go into the workplace. Learn about workplace attire and proper interview techniques. Also, this block tells you how to brag – humbly! Learn how to highlight your personal strengths and past experiences to make yourself attractive to future employers. Teens can sign up for one, two, or three blocks and, those who complete all four receive a certificate and special gift! Call the Volunteer Services Office at 301-446-3321
for more information and locations and go to http://www.mncppcapps.org/pgparks/disclaimer.html?https://ec.volunteernow.com/recruiter/index.php?class=OppSearchResults&recruiterID=1059&interest=4427 to register! Let’s all take the workforce by storm and show future employers just how successful Prince George’s Xtreme Teens can be!
