Jam-Packed Night of Summer Fun at Fresh Fest 2012
Let’s get fresh! Teens and their families flocked to the Glenarden Community Center on Saturday, July 14 for the first annual Fresh Fest 2012. The teen music festival, jam-packed with extras such as a cookout, basketball tournament, pool party and much more, was a hit with those looking to hear some local acts and spend time with their friends. Artists such as rapper Fat Sean, singer/songwriter/musician Keymace, guitarist Izzy and others rocked the outdoor and indoor stages, a little delayed after one of the area’s common pop-up showers. Excited to perform, Izzy, 13, was ready to share his talents with the festival. Playing rock, blues and R&B, Izzy, (pictured above) who will go to Reservoir High School next year, taught himself to play the guitar. He was excited to “see the crowd’s reactions,” he said. Kittrell Davis, 14, Kierstyn Raglin, 15, and Iyanna Verretti, 12, were excited to get in the pool at the community center. Though they came for the swimming, they were excited to hear the music too. Inside the gym, a huge screen displayed an interactive chat, with teens texting a number and their texts popping up on the screen. It was a cool way to see what the buzz was about at the festival. With hotdogs, basketball, music and a good time, Fresh Fest was certainly a rockin’ night for Xtreme Teens.
