Teen Cotillion Week 1 – Get to Know/ Teambuilding
In the opening night, our teens had the opportunity to begin the process of getting to know one another better. They participated in a number of activities led by Park Ranger Devin Mills. While the teens had fun working with Ranger Mills, their parents had the opportunity to learn more in depth about the Teen Cotillion and what to expect.

Parents learned more about the 40 Developmental Assets (external & internal) that have been proven to help influence the choices young people make as they grow up to be productive members of society. Parents also had the opportunity to work on their posture skills by attempting to balance books on their heads while they walked.

This was a great way to kick off the first night of the Cotillion practice; the Debs and Beaus had their own comments to share about tonight too:

• “Today I learned teambuilding skills and how to work together as a team to meet a common goal” – Seth Adams

• “Yes, I had fun tonight. I met new people, made new handshakes, and participated in fun activities” – Kristen Ransome

• “Tonight’s activities were interesting and brought us closer together. I learned how to not get frustrated so easily” - Unknown
