Kentland Community Center creates close friends
At Kentland Community Center, the plethora of games—Wii, Xbox, Billiards, Foosball and more—allows area teens to have a fun place to hang out any night. “I like everything here,” said 12-year-old Ronald Leach. “Just about every person is my friend.” Ronald, like many of the other teens present at Kentland on a Saturday night, knows most of the teens around him. In addition to the games, Kentland provides mentoring activities, field trips and monthly fitness activities for Xtreme Teens. “I like having fun here,” said 10-year-old Aaliyah Butler, who goes to Kentland with her three sisters. Ndaya Nicholes, 12, also gets to spend time with family when she goes to Kentland, as her cousins attend as well. For Kentland community youth, Xtreme Teens provides new friendships, and allows them to grow.
