Initiative Helps Get Kids Outdoors
Summer is one of the best times of year to ditch the video games, turn off the TV and unplug the Internet -- even if just for a few hours! It's important for everyone, young and old, to get outside and enjoy nature! The National Recreation and Park Association is teaming up with the National Wildlife Federation for it's 10 Million Kids Outdoors initiative designed to create a happier and healthier you! By going outside for a little while each day, you can improve your health and wellness, learn about and appreciate nature and get active! Less and less kids are spending time outdoors but there are many opportunities to get out and enjoy all that Prince George's County has to offer! Visit places like the Mount Rainier Nature and Recreation Center or the Watkins Regional Park to enjoy some hands-on wildlife experiences or enjoy the water at Bladensburg Waterfront Park. You can also bike around Lake Artemeisa in Berwyn Heights and College Park or learn about the history of aviation at the Columbia Air Center in Upper Marlboro. No matter where you go, even if it's your backyard, get out and enjoy the outdoors -- for your health and happiness! http://www.nrpa.org/10MillionKidsOutdoors/
