It was a hot Friday afternoon at the Tucker Road Athletic Complex, but Xtreme Teens, Preteens and their families still headed out to one of the most delicious events of the year: The 4th Annual Xterme Teens BBQ Grill-Off! There was so much to do, including live entertainment, games, a kickball tournament and food vendors, but most came for the main event, a BBQ competition by our own Xtrem Teens! Teams competed in groups from their respective community centers and worked together adding spices, glazes and more to their BBQ creations. Teams were given 45 minutes and a variety of ingredients and tools. As soon as the start was announced, the chefs sprung to action, some with a plan and some just experimenting! All were competing for trophies and monetary prizes! First place won $300, second place won $200 and even third place won $100. All during the competition, a DJ from WPGC was spinning awesome songs and radio personality and host Jeannie Jones aka "The Kitty of the City" announced teen performers such as Raw Element dance team, BKR singers and Priceless. Games 2 U had an outdoor video games spot as well as a cool team archery game. There was also a kickball competition, Ritas ice, the USDA Food Safety Mobile and much more! It was a great event and the perfect kick off to the Beltway BBQ competition the next day! Start practicing your grilling skills to enter the competition next year teens!
