Out and About in Prince George’s County: Greenbelt Park
As spring is starting and summer is fast approaching, plan time to get out and enjoy the many parks offered in the county. Greenbelt Park, just around the corner, has a lot to offer for anyone looking for a picnic, a jog or even a camping weekend! Open from dawn to dusk every day, at 6565 Greenbelt Road, the park is actually a National Park, right here in the county! The park offers plenty of campgrounds for just $16 a night. Pack some marshmallows to roast for a fun night out of the house (don’t worry, there’s hot showers and bathrooms). There are also plenty of picnic areas for reservation as well as miles of trails for jogging or even just a leisurely walk. Enjoy the 5.3-mile Perimeter Trail, the 1.2-mile Azalea Trail, the 1.5-mile Dogwood Trail or the 0.8-mile Blueberry Trail. Head to the park on Saturday, April 20 for a walk with Park Ranger Debbie on the Dogwood Trail, beginning at 11:30 a.m. There’s plenty to explore in the park, even if you only want to take a drive through its scenery. Come out to visit the National Park and all it’s beauty right here in Prince George’s County!
