FRESH TALK: Righting the Balance—Can there be gender parity in the art world?
You are personally invited to the inauguration of a new program: Women, Arts and Social Change (WASC) at the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) which is a bold new platform composed of programs highlighting the power of women and the arts as catalysts for change, on Sunday, October 18, 3–6 p.m., followed by Sunday Supper at 6–8 p.m.

FRESH TALK: Righting the Balance—Can there be gender parity in the art world?
In this FRESH TALK program, NMWA—as a champion of women through the arts—considers the inequality that persists for women artists today and explores pathways in the quest for gender equality.

Artists, curators, critics and representatives from auction houses and galleries are paired with activists, social media entrepreneurs and researchers to consider strategies for righting the balance, including: Jillian Steinhauer of Hyperallergic, Sarah Douglas of ARTnews, Mary Sabbatino of Galerie Lelong NY, Gabriela Palmieri of Sotheby’s, artists: Ghada Amer, Micol Hebro, Simone Leigh and Guerilla Girl Alma Thomas, and feminist activist Jamia Wilson. The event concludes with an exclusive Sunday Supper where attendees are invited to stay for a communal dinner in order to continue the conversation over food, drink and diversions, from 6–8 p.m. $25 for general admission; $15 for members, seniors and students. Includes museum admission and complimentary dinner. Reservations required.

Register HERE.

Also, mark your calendar for Sunday, November 15th from 5-6 pm for FRESH TALK featuring artist Carrie Mae Weems.
