Girls, we’ve all been there. Sometimes, when at school, playing sports, listening to music or even just hanging out with our friends, boys can ruin the fun. But, never fear, for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission offers plenty of “Girl’s Only” activities to help you feel safe and have the maximum amount of fun at Xtreme Teens and Preteens events. G.E.A.R., standing for Girls Excited About Recreation is a program designed just for Prince George’s County girls, offering clinics, dance workshops, sports, trips and even just hangout time where boys are not allowed. The program has a great intention behind it, as it’s mission is to provide an outlet where girls can feel safe as well as empowered to be the best young ladies they can be! Girls are encouraged to not only become involved with G.E.A.R. events, but to learn about other Xtreme Teen events. The program will help encourage young girls to attend other department events and parties as well as make friends and role models, for hopefully one day they too will be role models! Overall, the program hopes to provide young ladies with a place to feel safe and welcome, and to really realize her “Personal Power.” There’s so much potential in our Xtreme Teen and Preteen girls! Check back for more information and activities in the G.E.A.R. program and, yes, girls rule! (More Information: http://www.pgxtremeteens.com/Hot_Happenings/Girls__Programs_htm.htm)
