“Let’s Play Ball” for Community Wednesday at Fletcher Field
As a fun night for softball players, spectators and many others, the Maryland-National Capital Park Planning Commission’s Community Wednesday hosted the “Knocking Violence of The Park” softball game on June 27, with plenty of friendly competition. The W-PGC 95.5 radio station team, dressed in black jerseys, took on the yellow-clad Capital Park Police team in a game of intense play and good show for the crowd. Families attending the event enjoyed face painting, games at the Xtreme Teens tent, free hotdogs and ice cream--a great way to cool down on the summer night. The Prince George’s Health Department held free HIV testing as well, as the game fell on National HIV Testing Day. Shakecia Settles and her family took advantage of all the fun activities at the game. “I thought I would bring the kids and show some support to my fellow radio station,” she said. Her sons Ricky, 10, Kevin, 6, and Richard, 12, also enjoyed petting the police horse and getting their faces painted. “It’s a fun program,” Richard said.
