The Power of She
This past Friday January 9, 2015 The Power of She program was hosted at Pepper Mill Community Center in Landover Maryland. This program was a huge success and a lot of teens came out to support the program. The Power of She program created a safe space for a discussion of the many challenges faced by pre-teen/teen girls, and encouraged participants to discuss positive solutions. Some of the topics of discussion included youth identity crises, the influences of social media on teens, their definition of true beauty, and peer acceptance. This event had great entertainment , the dancers and singers were both very talented and added a unique twist to the program. The program was hosted by Christina Jones, Assistant State’s Attorney, and Co-hosted by Keymace, DMV R&B Artist. The panelists included K. Mariah Sankey, Miss Howard University 2014-2015, Celeste Hill, founder of Lovely Ladies of Laurel, and Veronica Eyenga, Founder and Executive Director of My Girlfriend's House, Inc. This program was something different for a few of the girls, but that’s what made the program that much more enjoyable.
