DC Jazz Festival
JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Education Coordinator, DC Jazz Festival
Status: Part-time (16-20 hours per week)
Reports to: Executive Director
Tasks/Responsibilities:
Coordinate year-round DCJF educational programs such as “Jazzin’ at Sitar,” “Jazz Meets Hip Hop/Go-Go,” “Meet the Artist”, and the “DC Jazz Bops”
Manage the education program timeline
Work closely with the educators and clinicians as needed
Serve as DC Jazz Bops storyteller
Administer and analyze educational and community program survey data
Draft evaluative data from educations program surveys and program summaries in powerpoint presentation format
Created, edit, and/or organize media and promotional documents relation to DCJF education programs including tear-sheets, reviews, photos and other post-festival publicity items.
Support Executive Director in enhancing current education programs.
Serve as a member of the production team during the annual DC Jazz Festival and festival activities and assist with various production tasks related to education activities.
Work closely with any education interns on all deliverables related to the education program
Candidates with education/music degrees or majors preferred.
The
DC Jazz Festival
is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established in 2004 with a mission to create, develop, implement, and support cultural and educational programs in Washington, DC through the presentation of concerts, festivals, symposia, workshops, master classes, lecture/demonstrations and other programs related to jazz, blues, Latin and world music.
Our signature programs are the annual DC Jazz Festival, presented annually since 2005; the Roberta Flack Education Program, established in 2008; and the Charles Fishman Young Artist Embassy Series, established in 2012.
