The Arc Mural Dedication Ceremony

On August 24th from 12-1:30 pm, The Arc Prince George's County will dedicate a new mural at its Largo Day Center. The mural was designed and created during a 16-week long art workshop partnership between the Arc Prince George's County and the Brentwood Arts Exchange (Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission). Students worked with artist-instructor Rachel Cross to design and build murals for The Arc's Largo, Laurel, and Temple Hills Day Centers in Prince George's County.

The beautiful mural panels on wood incorporate hand-drawn images, embellished with Mardi Gras beads donated by the Arc New Orleans. During the art workshop, students learned important technical skills including creating original representational drawings and designs, painting, sorting and selecting beads, sanding, cutting, as well as concepts about planning and developing large scale projects over the course of two months.
