Deadline: September 12, 2015
Prince George's African American Museum & Cultural Center proudly presents "Now" our first photography competition celebrating the culture of Prince George's County, Maryland.
Students, hobbyists and professional photographers and image-makers are encouraged to submit images that convey the essence of contemporary life in Prince George's County--where and how we live, shop, eat, play, worship and learn.
Images should offer a look at who we are and what we are becoming-now--a this moment in history!
Entry Categories
Entrants can submit up to three images in any of the following five categories:
1. The Natural Landscape: This includes images of plants and distinguished landscapes of Prince George's County, Maryland.
2. People: Portraits of residents from all walks of life.
3. Culture: Show the events, historic places, objects and activities that connect and explore the cultural composition of Prince George's County.
4. Altered Images: Photographs manipulated for artistic purposes by applying digital and /or traditional photo effects (i.e. colorizing, toning, collage, photo composites, HDR,etc.) Images should express a unique concept related to contemporary life in Prince George's County.
5. You: Show the world who you are "Now". The final category is for 'Selfie' images taken with a mobile device. However, please note that all images in this category must also feature a recognizable or iconic location in Prince George's County (school, park, church, restaurant or public art).
All submissions will be reviewed by our panel of judges. Winning submissions will be featured in our upcoming gallery and online exhibition, "Now! A Photographic Survey of Prince George's County, Maryland' opening in October 2015.
The top three entries from our selection of winning submissions will be awarded our best of show prizes:
Best of Show Awards:
First Place Winner: $1,000.00
