About the Seniors on Stage Show:
The Seniors on Stage Show is designed to showcase some of Prince George’s County’s very talented seniors who sing or play a musical instrument while providing inspiration and joy to others. It is highly recommended your song selections be up tempo (i.e. show tunes, pop tunes, golden oldies from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, etc.). The Seniors on Stage Show will be performed with a “live” band to accompany the performers. Mandatory practices will be held Monday afternoons beginning Jan. 22 up until dress rehearsal on April 3 and show day on April 4.
Seniors on Stage Audition Guidelines
To audition you must be a senior 60 & better and reside in Prince George’s County.
Solo and duet performances only (no group songs). Past Prince George’s County Senior Idol winners and runner-ups and singers from the past Seniors on Stage Shows are ineligible to audition. However, we do reserve the right to use past performers in the show.
All who audition and want accompaniment must provide their own accompaniment and/or CD for the audition (Note: We will have a keyboard and CD player available for your use.).
Be prepared to perform 2 songs at the audition – each song must not exceed the 3-minute performance time limit. All performances must be in good taste.
Participants must sign a photo release/waiver at the time of the audition.
Performances will be evaluated by a panel of judges using a scale from 1 to 5 in each of the following categories: stage presence/poise; connection with the audience; song selection; voice quality (tone, key); ability to project; and ability to remember lyrics accurately.
Those selected to participate in the Seniors on Stage Show must be prepared to attend all practices as scheduled (Mondays, 1-4 pm at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center), dress rehearsal on Tuesday, April 3 and on show day, Wednesday, April 4.
A music director and professional “live” musical accompaniment will be provided for rehearsals and the show. If you are unable to attend the practices and/or dress rehearsal, you will not be able to participate in the show.
The selected Seniors on Stage Show participants will not receive any financial compensation for their participation.
