Chelsea Mayo: "Rosalind"

1. What's your background.
I'm originally from Nashville, TN, and I moved to DC after graduating from Vanderbilt University. Locally, I've worked at Shakespeare Theatre Company, Quotidian Theatre Company, Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, and Annapolis Shakespeare Company among others. I'm an Affiliated Teaching Artist at STC, and this is my first show with PG Shakes.

2. What’s your favorite thing about performing in front of a live audience?
For Shakespeare - direct address. It's especially fun when playing a character like Rosalind, who has the audience on her side.

3. What has been the most surprising or delightful thing about creating this production of As You Like It?
The laughter! I can't remember another process in which I have laughed so hard at every rehearsal. I wasn't a big fan of this play before working on it, but exploring it has been so much fun.
