Seeking Summer Theatre Camp Director

Experienced Theatre Camp Director needed to lead 8-week summer theatre camp for the Prince George’s County, Department of Parks and Recreation. Camps are for 8 – 11 year olds or 11 – 15 year olds. There is a maximum of 25 campers in each camp session. Dates run Monday, June 19 until Friday August 14 with one day off for the 4th of July holiday. Free parking available on campus for all camp staff. Camp is metro accessible to Green Line.
There are four two-week long camps:
• Comedy Arts Camp: A devised play camp focused on comedy, improvisation, clowning, etc.
• Exploring Theater: A devised play camp focused on general theatre arts skills
• Performing Arts Workshop: Work on and present the musical: Willy Wonka Jr.
• Making a Musical: Work on and present the musical: Disney’s Cinderella Kids
Duties include but are not limited to:
-Developing, planning and implementing theatre camp curriculum/lesson plans; serving as lead director for all end of session performances.
-Supervising and delegating tasks to assistant directors and teaching artists
-Communicating with parents/guardians and M-NCPPC supervisors to ensure a safe, secure and customer friendly environment, promoting cooperation and coordinating with all personnel
-Overseeing facilities are properly maintained on a day to day basis
-Managing field trip to a local theatre in accordance with Youth Camp Safety Standards.
-Enforcing programs rules and Youth Camp Safety Standards.
-Attending all camp training, including CPR/ First Aid Training
-Managing day to day operations of the camp
Minimum Qualifications:
Age: At least 21 years of age
Experience: At least 24 weeks of previous experience in a theatre camp or children’s art program as an administrator or a supervisor; Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year in theatre instruction
Salary: $16-$26/hour, based on experience
