Call For Art For Teen Dating Violence Prevention Awareness Program
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. According to breakthecycle.org, one in three teenagers reports knowing a friend or peer who has been hit, punched, kicked, slapped, choked, or physically hurt by their partner. For the last five years, the Teen Dating Violence Summit has brought valuable information and resources to teenagers in Prince George’s County.

In February 2017, we are hosting a Teen Dating Violence Prevention Awareness program. We are inviting students ages 13-21 to create a piece of visual art depicting what a healthy relationship looks like to them.
Eligible types of media are:
• paintings
• sculptures
• 3D art
• collages
• graphic art
• photography

We are asking that:
• Submissions are brought to the Central Area Office inside of Watkins Park by January 31st at 5:00pm. (301 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774)
• Contestants email Carlotta.Wade@pgparks.com with a photo of your work and the date you intend to bring it to the Central Area Office at Watkins Park
• Submissions are tasteful with no derogatory images, implications, or language.
• Participants invite family and friends to come out and vote.

The winner of the contest will be chosen during the “No Excuse for Dating Abuse: Teen Dating Violence Prevention Awareness Program”, on Saturday, February 25th at Prince Georges Community College 10AM-2:30PM.
