Greenbelt Recreation Department Presents Free August Arts Programs for All Ages
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages are invited to enjoy free circus-themed performances and hands-on arts this August! A rainbow of colors will be right in your hand at a free painting and printmaking workshop with artist Kathy Karlson. Join Kathy at a Community Art Drop-In at the Greenbelt Community Center on Sunday, August 7, 1-3 PM. Reservations are not required and all materials will be provided. This event takes place at the Greenbelt Community Center located at 15 Crescent Road in Greenbelt, Maryland, where Kathy is one of eight Artists in Residence. Wear clothes that can get messy!

Also, mark your calendar also for Friday, August 12–a full day of family-friendly theater featuring stellar performances by local youth. At 10 AM and 2:15 PM, Creative Kids Camp performs “Summer Circus”. In this original musical by Chris Cherry, a group of cousins spend the summer on the farm with their Aunt Beverly where they pitch in to help save a struggling circus. Free advance tickets are available through the Greenbelt Community Center business office: 301-397-2208. Both performances take place at the Greenbelt Arts Center located below the Greenbelt Coop Supermarket at 123 Centerway. Seating is limited, so get your tickets early!

At 1 PM on August 12, Circus Camp performs their final revue of the summer. Don’t miss this high-energy showcase as young performers demonstrate their skills in juggling, balance, clowning and much more under direction of Greg May. This performance takes place at the Greenbelt Community Center. Admission is free and no tickets are required.
